Knowledge of law is closely related with social life. This knowledge is to be obtained in such a way learner comes to know the existing scenario and his thinking is stimulated for the better scenario. Then only the function of law is fulfilled and its study.
Dr.Panjabrao Deshmukh College of Law aims at imparting such legal education whereby it disciples come out of the clear picture of the society in which they move. They have the intense desire to eradicate the evils existing in the society, the future lawyer coming out of this alma mater have clear picture about the existing social system as they are the people endowed with the desire to change it accordingly.
Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh College of Law was introduced as a faculty in 1946 as a part of Shri Shivaji College, Amravati. Due to the untiring effect of the President, Secretary and members of Shri Shivaji Education Society and the devoted cooperation from the teaching faculty the faculty grew from success to success. The growth and progress resulted in the separation of law faculty into and independent law college from the Academic Year 1978-79 onwards this college is affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University and Re-Accredited by NAAC ‘B”, Today the college has independent building since 1996. The new campus of the college is situated in a sprawling premises on Morshi Road, Amravati nearer to District Court, Collector Office, Commissioner Office, Bus Stand & Railway Station
Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh College of Law is a premier legal institution, affiliated with Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University located in Amravati Maharashtra. The college is run by Shri. Shivaji Education Society, Amravati, which was established in the year 1931 and is one of the largest Society in Maharashtra.
The college offers programs in Law, such as BA LL.B, LL.B and LLM. The college offers programs in Law, such as LLB. (Bachelor of Legum Laws) which
is of 3 years duration having a intake capacity of 300 students & LL.B. 5 year duration having a intake capacity of ____ Seats and College is running two
years post graduate Degree Course in Law. (LLM.) in the Five specialization with intake capacity of 25 students per subject. It has been also granted the status of Research Centre, by the affiliating University wherein Ph.D programme is successfully runned by the college. The college runs certificate courses in various subjects as well.
The College has a full time regular full time Principal and considerable high number of well qualified and well experienced faculty members. The college also
has adequate number of non-teaching staff members. Along with this at least 50 qualified teachers are engaged with the college as temporary/part time
teachers. The College provides to its students a good physical infrastructure suffices enough to administer education in the abovementioned programmes as per
UGC and BCI norms.
The College has a Moot Court Hall and Seminar Hall. The college has a well-stocked library, which in addition to the numerous law books contained therein has
subscribed to various law journals including e-books and e journals. The college also has well equipped, updated computer lab having high speed internet connection. It stands as the only educational institution in Amravati District to offer at one place all the courses mentioned above. The college has spacious
playgrounds for variety of sports.
The alumni of the college include numerous distinguished individuals who have made valuable contributions to the betterment of society. The college has a strong alumni association whereby the alumni contribute financially as well as through other means. The college is well known for carrying its best practices of running Judiciary Examination Coaching Centre and has its own Moot Court Association. So also, the college administers extension services to the society for its betterment through the legal aid clinic and various legal awareness activities. Thus the college is a pioneer legal institute in the area contributing significantly to the legal fraternity of the nation. (LLM.) in the Five specialization with intake capacity of 25 students per subject. Besides the academic progress of the students, the college lays special emphasis on Extra Curricular Activities, Sports Facilities. Welfare Schemes, Grievance redressal Cell etc. The other support services such as Health Centre, Hostel, Swimming Pool etc. are provided by sister concerned.
